Enterprise Vault – Email retrieval fails after installing Security Patch for Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016.
On opening an item from EV shortcut from inbox end users will get the below message
Outlook will become unresponsive, when clicking on the banner Click here to view and it will not take to the users archive.
However searching directly from the EV tab in outlook and EV web app will perfectly work fine
Issue:
This happened after the custom form script was disabled by default after recent Microsoft Office Updates.
After this Microsoft Update the Custom forms present for EV on the below location will be gone
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FORMS
Post Enterprise Vault (EV) version 8.0 and above, the forms were included with the client extensions to deploy via the EV desktop policy from the Vault Admin Console to ease the Admin Job.

Solution:
Have created a reg file which can be deployed to all users PC via Group Policy for Outlook versions. Copy paste below save them as .reg and can be deployed via group policy.

Once above is completed GPUPDATE / Force on affected clients and restarting Outlook will fix the email retrieval from EV shortcuts from outlook.
